QUESTIONS

The questions that I ask sometimes,

          I really want to know.

Like why little legs can move so fast,

When mine have grown so slow.

Little hands can reach for mine,

As we try to cross the street.

And I try to watch for each new step,

          From little tiny feet.

Some things I guess I already know,

          And come as no surprise,

Why I am such a pushover,

For a pair of big blue eyes.

There are many questions still to come,

          And answers to be sought.

There are lots of stories to be told,

          And presents to be bought.

Some things aren’t really all that new,

I have known them from the start.

That a little smile on a little face,

Can melt a great big heart.
