When Spring Comes
It was spring when the sun came out
And the guineafowl made a fuss
The peacock strutted himself about
And showed us all his stuff
The mayflies took their special place
And the crappies began to bite
We camped outside once again
And fished all through the night
The little lake was a heron scene
And the fisherman savored the day
Knowing the bass of our dreams
Was just a cast away
The butterflies flew once again
And tasted the flowers bright
With their wings up in the wind
And floating them way up high
The robins landed one special day
And ran there all around
They stood proudly everywhere
With an earthworm dangling down
It was good with all these things
Many shiny and many new
A far cry from the winter cold
That left us feeling blue
