Simplicity Seekers

Tune: Malvern

(\'one tune to \'Jesus, where\'er thy people meet\')

1 Timothy 6 v.6-12

********

Godliness with contentment, gain

Great it is, and it be no feign

For into this world we nothing

Brought, and cannot take out one thing

So having food, raiment, then let

us therewith be content, ot fret

For they who will be rich do fall

Into snares, temptings, hear not call

The call of God to live simply

Rejoicing and too penitently

But many foolish lusts hurtful

Rich fall into, a state appal[ling]

For the love of money the root

Of all evil, they quick, astute

To gain more and more, selfish ends

Treacherous through life their path bends

For if coveting worldly wealth

They err from the faith in their stealth

And sorrows know, as piercing pain

As they seek for self, greed retain

But rather seek to follow true

Righteousness, godliness, renew

And faith, love, patience, meekness too

Christ\'s lowly image formed in you

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold

On eternal life, here it told

\'Tis to know the Father and the Son

And Spirit, they the Three in One
