Fly my little bird,
She said
As she nudged me out the nest.
See the end of the sky,
That is your only limit.
She said.
No matter
How many times
She told me not to
My eyes darted,
To the ground.
Then a panic would grow,
My feathers would shake,
And doubts would
Weigh me down.
Till one midnight,
The pearlescent moon
Shone down on the array of twigs,
I call home.
And I realised
I’d rather fall,
Than never try.
