I sit alone eating my bread, and see you alone too and think in my head;
“Why not ask if he’d like to sit down?” He’ll probably look at me like some kind of clown!”
He looks lonely too, why not give it a try?” He’s probably just not that kind of guy.”
I’m the kind of girl who doesn’t enjoy eating alone. Perhaps he’d like to join me for an ice cream cone?” I wait and wait, until it’s too late! He’s packing his bag and he’s headed straight for the door, he walks by me and takes a double take.
I look behind my shoulder and think of what could’ve been. How we might have had a house, a canoe, and maybe some children. Then he walks out the door with the wind on his cheek, I watch him blow away like a soft melody……….
*I wrote this to express the depth of the longing for a relationship. We’ve all been there. So lonely, you want so badly to engage that stranger! Then we find a lack of courage to make our dreams come true….. Boy, can I dream though!*
