I broke free of you
But aftershocks that range between
a four and a seven
Sometimes tease my kneecaps
and send shivers up my spine
I have a fear of dark water
and it sits like a rock
in the pit of my stomach
It comes in waves
and when you opened the gates
I had the choice to sink
or swim in your flood
so I relaxed
and tip toed through
instead.
You thought you could keep me down
but I keep my head in the clouds
because-
I can see everything on the ground
Then, I was a seed
I grew--
Even through your dark watered dirt
Now, with my face turned to the sun
I am ready to bloom
but still
the scars from your shackles
cant help from showing
I\'m tormented
from the aesthetic
and constantly knowing
I still watch my step
and avoid your
drying puddles
But every now and then
You soak through
My hardsole shoes
And give me cold feet
One day
My memory of you
Will be dry and dusty.
