Blue Norther
It’s the first norther blowing in
And I am feeling fine
I love the gusts of the wind
And the temperature as it dives
I take my jacket from its storage
And make a pot of coffee
I see the squirrels as they play
In big trees swaying softly
The deer get frisky with each other
And enjoy the acorn food
Blown by the gusts of wind
As the norther front comes through
Flocks of geese fly with ease
Along with the changes
They honk as they proceed
Ahead to southern ranges
Coffee shops become a favorite
When the winter winds do blow
The hotter beverages become the savored
And warm us to the bone
After the front has come in
We burn our post oak wood
It warms our wind-burned noses some
And smells mighty good
