THE BOOK

  (c) Edward York

The day had started to fade away,

The sun was almost asleep.

All the battles yet not fought,

I thought would surely keep.

I would settle in an easy chair,

but first I\'d take a look.

I would chase the battles of the day,

And shield them with a book.

The thoughts of stories I would choose,

Had just started to take shape.

I thought a classic might be the best,

To help with my escape.

So nestled in the cushion deep.

With a bourbon by my side.

I picked a book I\'d read before,

To take it for a ride.

I knew that many could be the one,

And help to save the day,

And you could never go wrong,

With Melville or Hemingway.
