To stand upon the road of time
And ponder what lay near
To bring upon the hearts desire
Lay aside the rapt and gentle fear
Make a step beyond the path
See the light within and grasp
Know not the hour it will arrive
Ponder quick the pass of time
All are given glimpses brief
Yet not the sow of life will seek
To all a fury base and proud
To give and grasp and shout aloud
Where not we lay to withstand dawn
To grasp and ponder quite withdrawn
Bear and wish and pray to tell
Be fraught with just and fervent quell
Beguile and stand at favors due
To wit an end not bearing true
Can not this heart upon me see
The fair and fragile gift to be
Awake we ponder life within
To naught without this fevered grin
What cruel and heartless one would be
That gives the wisp an eye to see
Walking weary weighted heart
To walk in brief and then depart
What glorious the idle living be
That soon departs the morning breeze
Oh swoon and roil the beaten heart
Within the thrum of nature be
That departs upon a twilight hour
Carried long upon the endless sea
