UNDER HEAVY ROCKS
My time is up, and here I lie asleep,
My head tucked between my little arms.
Heavy rocks upon my fragile inert body lie.
I cannot move, but when the sun goes down, my spirit flies.
I meet the guys whose bones, under rocks, lie by my side.
Three cats, three friends,
We jump, we play, we chase a mouse, a moth,
Anything that comes our way.
With tails held high we trod through trees, we cross the road,
Across some fields until we come to a place we know.
Then up a vine, onto the roofs, we jump a wall,
And here we are at last, no place like home.
You\'re all asleep, to every room we go,
Until each one finds his favorite bed or chair,
No, not to sleep,
But to keep an eye on you, our friends.
Then at first light, we leave and go the way we came,
And under rocks again we sleep, till the end of day.
