SANTA CLAUS BLUES

SANTA CLAUS BLUES
(c) 2015 Edward York

I’ve worked all year with pride and sweat,
Just to make the toys.
Now I have just one night of delivery,
To all the girls and boys.

The world has grown,
So many more it’s really such a mess.
It makes me want to pack the stuff,
And send it U P S.

No wooden dolls, no wooden trains,
And stuffed animals can’t be found.
The kids all want computer games,
Complete with 3D sound.

The elves have formed a union.
They say they want more pay.
The Teamsters talked to the reindeer,
Just the other day.

Mrs. Claus went to a rest home,
She couldn’t stand the stress
When we received the notice,
Of being audited by the IRS.

We’re selling off our workshop,
To pay taxes on demand.
We’ve opened up a sweatshop,
And shipping toys from Pakistan.
