This poem was inspired by my comments exchange with Angel G on her poem \'The Scoffer Believed\'

The Holy Church of Matrimonial Bliss
On that fateful day when I said “I do”
I became a member of that church of two
All my money goes to my wife’s collection bowl
Disappearing without a sound down that holy hole
The evening meal is considered a shrine
Where I get to consume some holy wine
A sermon is delivered at least twice a week
With the outlook for me usually rather bleak
And the praying to her never ends
To let me hang out and drink with my friends
But once in a while at various nights
I humbly get to visit my wife’s holy sites
These are the nights you don’t want to miss
Where you partake of the matrimonial bliss
Followed by the day of infinite grace
Confessing my sins with a straight face
We even have church picnics once in a while
Where we congregate, talk, eat, and smile
So you see, my church is at home
No need for a cathedral with golden dome
