I Could Write A Poem

I could write a poem,

I could write something autobiographical,

too dull,

I could write something semi autobiographical,

but I can\'t lie,

I could write about my kids,

but who really cares about other people\'s kids,

I could write about my wife,

but she already knows how I feel,

I could write about food,

but then even people who had never seen me would know I\'m a fat fuck,

I could write about alcohol,

but I\'m too hungover,

I could write about how smokers make me sick,

but I do enjoy the odd cigar,

and I can\'t let people know I\'m a massive hypocrite,

I could write about religion,

and it\'s exploitation of the gullible,

it\'s extremism,

it\'s faith healers,

it\'s money grabbing,

it\'s paedophiles,

but you can\'t get through to those people,

I could write about global warming,

but who doesn\'t,

I could write about how feminism wants privilege not equality,

but then I\'d be a chauvinist,

I could write about racial abuse,

but I\'m too white to say nigger,

I could write about gender neutrality,

and it\'s abject refusal to accept fact.

So many reasons,

not to write,

I would talk myself out of life,

if I could,

big issues need addressing,

but what right do I have,

what do I know,

too many experts already,

could do without one more.
