Around and around I go
On the carousel of life
With nearly nothing to show
Except for disappointment and strife
Screeching music, vintage tune
Old engine, wheezing, working hard
Painted angels, flowers, sun and moon
Wooden horses, scratched and marred
The horses riding up and down
Just like my mood, from low to high
I am nothing but a run-down clown
With painted smile and tired sigh
There was a time when all was new
When riding the horses was much fun
But good times never last, I knew
Accept that what is done is done
We always hope for another chance
A way to make things right
Both in life and in romance
But deliverance is out of sight
The carousel goes on and on
I’m just along for this one ride
Some day soon I will be gone
Watching sadly from the other side
