The Last Starfighter\'s Stand

From a dying regime
He set out into the cosmic wilderness
As he stood on the plinth staring into the void he turned back to smile
We need him
The galactic fog turned into a desert around him
A lone wolf pulled up to a drying oasis. The water reflected back his own desertion across the sands
When the wild expanse of colours died,
The nurses came running in and stole his deer hunting cap
For in that desert the starfighter encountered that famous crossroads and was met with glory or labotomy
And a week later at the station when he mustered up the courage to speak to the woman
He switched off
And he hopes he is the better for it
It is not every day that a cowboy has to bury his stallion
