Accidental Poet

Clouds

Held aloft

Floating in mid-air

Moisture rises

Without the need for stairs

Slowly they cross the sky

Advancing like grazing cattle

Many times quiet and serene but

Occasionally they rumble and rattle

Defying the laws of gravity

They hang in the air

Sometimes resembling familiar shapes

Hypnotized I’ll ponder and stare

Once I even saw a question mark

Prompting me to wonder its meaning

Maybe to look within

Of there I should be leaning

And as I emerge from within

To see the world anew

Through eyes wide open

Life in all its hue

Fear not the dark clouds

Nor the heavy rains

Let them wash away

All your troubling pains

And with a new sunrise

Bask in the morning glow

Light reflected off the clouds

The light of God’s love to show
