Mountain Lion

Mountain Lion

His home range was impressive

With miles and miles of land

A habitat well protected

With much untouched by man

He was spotted one autumn day

While sitting in a pine

In a blur he was gone

As a little bluff he climbed

The park ranger prided himself

As protector of all about

That included the mountain lion

That sometimes made his rounds

Ranchers sometimes claimed a loss

As when they lost a steer

Many blamed the mountain lion

But he stayed fat on deer
