collecting feathers

This suffocating word, desire;

driving me to pursue,

to possess.

To run through her raging fires,

where shooting stars vanish;

scattered among the ash

of ice blue sorrows.

I never thought possible

to suffer like this;

to suffer for a girl I once knew.

Branded by her burning lips

with a careless kiss;

her voice, a sirens curse.

I fell through,

tangled among twisted thorns;

her wicked smile

and whispering eyes

had lured me in.

Swayed by a foolish game,

stained with the residues of pain.

I withdrew and she flew.

Leaving disintegrated dreams

struggling to breathe.

Wandering a wilderness alone;

looking for my lost sparrow,

I was foolish to chase

into the storm.
