On Albatross Wings

On Albatross Wings

Of all the birds I’ve come across

Few impress as the albatross

With her mighty wings and ocean breeze

lifting her up so easily

A citizen of the open water

Her wings carry her ever farther

Where the ocean sometimes storms

And she finds herself lost and worn

On the water she’ll float a bit

Until the storm is gone and quit

Then again she’ll fly away

Sailing along throughout the day

And on an island she’ll build a nest

Where mother nature will surely test

As they live as landed ones

On the ground with predators some

And with some luck she’ll fly away

thankful as she leaves that day

Knowing that her chick has flown

On the breeze to her home
