The Ballad of Janus (The Two Faces) – A Poem at New Year’s

At times to have two faces, can be something good,

For one reflects, and the other states of what it should,

These two therefore will step in toe, to perform a dance,

To balance lie and truth, creating wondrous romance.

One has cried, but one will smile, so it can look forward,

For the one that dries it tears, will no longer be slaughtered,

The face of sensibility, will turn into something frisky,

For change unfolds over eight thousand seven hundred and sixty.

The pain of last year, hasn’t killed, so those faces are stronger,

So, prepare both countenances, for many gleeful wonders,

As the visage that’s been denied, will indeed receive,

The cynical one will start to learn, and then truly believe.

Janus will sing loud and proud, acting as beacon of hope,

Massaging words of wisdom in ears, so friendly duo can cope,

If one face has aspirations, then the other will be grounded,

Since humility wins over arrogance, so they try to be well rounded.
