American Goldfinch
They wear gold and black
And celebrate every spring
At our gazebo feeder
With the songs that they sing
The contrast of their colors
Really is a sight
With a sports jacket yellow gold
And a cap as black as night
In their shiny threads
They make their little calls
With the little feeder
Attracting one and all
They gather at the seeds
And husk them all the time
In their sporty coats
With thanks that times are fine
