Baylee

As I Did

My citadel

must crumble with

the end of the beginning

These feathers falling,

these cliffs collapsing

as a waterfall cascades down my cheeks

My riven wings

drag behind me as

I carry on without you

Take the dawn from my sight

leave my bones to dry

in the hot desert sun

Please, do not weep

I have wept enough

for all of you

for many lives to come

Allow the fog to form

over your memory, over your emotion

let it creep inside your heart

and infect the blood of your veins

Allow that numbness you feel

to consume your being

So that one day,

you may die

as I did:

without a heart

and without a purpose.
