Mask

We walk around,

Blind to what we see.

This is how we live our lives,

How we choose to be.

Wear it with pride,

Believing the lies.

Blissfully unaware,

At least we try.

The struggle to break,

The illusion we live in.

Will not be overcome,

Tis true for all men.

Yet some desire,

This feeling of freedom.

But when the mask breaks,

Who says this will come.

Cracks can be formed,

Holes that breathe.

The world becomes clear,

As the veil recedes.

The world is empty,

The mask covered nothing.

Was it not placed there,

To cover up something?

No

We are the mask,

It cannot fade away.

The mask that was not broken,

We remain unchanged.
