When Jesus spoke of suffering
Retort, rebuke, Peter did bring
Saying, \"Not so Lord, this shall not
Happen, suffering not your lot\"
Yet he had said, \"You are the Christ\"
To Jesus, and this it sufficed
But wanting not his Lord to go
Way of the cross, nor of it know
But behind these words, Satan tempts
To avoid the cross, have relents
Not give up life for salvation
Of all people of each nation
Lord, give us grace, this we do pray
To take up here our cross daily
To go your way, give strength, that we
