THE GIRL I MARRIED

(c) 2018 Edward York

I met you when you were young,

You had a smile across your face.

It always seemed to fit you,

And you wore it every place.

We certainly had our struggles,

But you handled them with flair.

No matter what was inside,

That smile was always there.

I watched that girl in amazement,

As you worked till you were numb.

Not knowing then it would be part,

Of the woman you\'d become.

Through loss and death we managed,

And financial woes as well.

If your heart was filled with stresses,

No one could ever tell.

Most of our days have passed us,

We don\'t focus on the clock.

I know that through our struggles,

You always remain my rock.
