Still in grip of winter, I long for Spring
For longer days and shorter nights
For warm sunshine to savour on my face.
I’m tired of cold damp days
And long for sunshine’s rays.
If we could hibernate for those few weeks
‘tween January and March
And just lie low till Spring,
When warm fingers would gently wake me and lead me into warmer climes,
how happy I would be;
To wake to warmth and soft green shades of Spring.
And yet today, as I look out on crisp white snow
And blue skies greeting me,
I’m thankful that I’m free.
