Tune: Engelberg
(\'All praise to thee, for thou, O King divine\')
Based partly on Mark 14 v.32-42
********
Lord, you did pray, garden Gethsemane
Knowing all things are possible they be
To God your Father, and there made your plea
And lived obediently
Saying, Abba, Father, you can do all
For what I here now ask, and on you call
Take this cup of suffering hence from me
But yet what your will be
Nevertheless not what I will, but what
You will Father, that still shall be my lot
To gain the salvation of your people
Each one you do them call
Though lonesome in this prayer, this agony
For your disciples were asleep, we see
Your word to them was that they watch and pray
And constant with you stay
For in their sleepiness they would b prone
To temptations, and to leave Christ alone
For the spirit is willing, flesh is weak
Does not you fervent seek
Three times you prayed, and to disciples came
And found them there sleeping, each time the same
They did not your request fulfil, no power
To watch and pray one hour
Yet you still loved them, and the hour did go
Sleep on now, take your rest, you did say so
To them, but now your hour had come, and they
Went with you on your way
The way unto Jerusalem it be
Where you would give your life for sinners free
Though sinners there betrayed you, Judas\' kiss
A false pretence of bliss
All in the Father\'s will, He gave His Son
That He bring salvation to every one
He lived and died and rose again, now sure
He lives for evermore
