The Roadmap of Life

Caught somewhere between

The vises of a traditionalist

Lost in yesterday and tomorrow

The visions of an optimist

Growing up a shy boy

A Baby Boomer for sure

Unaware of life’s consequence

The outcome I’d have to endure

The road of life

We travel without road maps

With only intuition and gut feeling

We end up where we’re at

While wrong turns

Can leave you lost

There’s no turning back

In effort to redeem the cost

Yesterday is back there

And today is here

But tomorrow is still yet to be

Don’t let it consume you with fear

‘Tis you in the driver’s seat

With you at the steering wheel

Let experience be your guide

And use your heart to feel

Keep a watchful eye out

For life’s road signs

Let caution be your co-pilot

And your desired destination in mind

When roadblocks occur

Follow the detour route

For life is full of changes

Adjust your strategy plan anew
