Which Path Will You Take?

There are only so many paths in life…

One that…

Is a long paved road

Leading to a bridge

There is a woman at the end of the bridge

She is tall

Her deep brown eyes encouraging

Her expressionless smile patient but calming

Her pale face warm and comforting

Her stance creaming confidence with her hands resting by her side making me feel like she is someone you should look up too

Path two is a mess

A paved road filled with potholes

Scattered with patches of green grass

Shattered glass strewn about

The woman at the end of this road is

Carrying a backpack on her back that is sagging

I can tell that it is heavy

But

She makes it look like supporting it is effortless

Her eyes cut threw me like glass

The rest of her face emotionless

Her hands cut up from working hard

Her breathing remained calm, and steady

Her hair tied up in messy bun, but…

A few hairs pulled out to make her look passive…

Yet

Dedicated

Her black shirt fits almost perfectly to her body…

But

Isn’t revealing

Showing that she can compromise

Her arms crossed tight against her chest

Showing she can stand up for herself

Even if the world is cracking under her feet…

She remains unfazed

The red lips…

With no smile…

Screams strength

The third path

The sun is shining down

A white…

Clear path…

To success…

You see the light at the end of the tunnel

The golden ticket…

The woman…

Standing in a wide stance

Black thick cat eye glass

Lack of sleep cutting through her eyes

Bold black watch on wrist

Allowing her to keep track of every minute

A stack of four books…

Clenched in one hand against her body

The other hand clenched a wallet

So full of receipts and

Credit cards

Passion making her face flow

Motivation burning through her smile

The fourth path

A woman stands at the end of the road…

While a storm goes by

She stands in the middle of it

Her hair pulled back tight

She looks confident

Her stance…

Calm

Collective

Her eyes scream approachable

Her smile nonexistent but

Firm and assertive

The crisp blue polo…

Showing she is ready to delegate

The final path

Is divided equally in two

Both sides are bright

Green

But one side is dimmer than the other

The woman at the of the road

Has her mom pulling on her left

Her dad pulling on the right

On the left…

Her face calm

Eyes glassy almost tearing up

Smile quivering trying to keep a straight face

Hair down and a mess

Arms filled with cuts…

Some fresh

Some old

Black baggy shirt

Her face wearing a stone-cold mask

Her hands messed up from hard work

Money at her feet that her mom grabs at every chance she gets

On the right

Her hair tied up in a tight messy bun

Eyes confident, but broken

Smile red, bold, but fierce

Black form fitting shirt

Showing confidence, and success

Dad hardly holding on

Smiling at her

Knowing…

How proud he is of his successful daughter

Being a general manager

An independent

Successful

Business owner

With a degree in business

That can support him if needed

He lets her go

Knowing she is ready…

You take a step back

Looking at all these paths

Realizing…

You can’t choose one path…

These paths…

Make up…

Who you are…

These paths…

Are

Your

Life.
