THEY BLENDED OUT OF SIGHT
The hour was still yet early
and no irresolution steeled
his firm and regally held resolve.
Like floating dust in sunlit beams
he walked unscathed in dignity
within the pathway’s margins set
he blended out of sight.

With steady hands she slowly raised
her flowing gown and walked along
the puddled path that led away

they met as lovers often do
