Well here we are friends
On the doorstep of Spring
Let the sun shine
And the returning birds sing
As Old Man Winter departs
Leaving behind his melting snow
He left his mark upon the year
And I’m not sorry to see him go
The hard ground beneath my feet
Under Sun’s warmth has turned soft
With renewed smile
My frown was turned off
Even the little critters
Seem to know Spring is here
Like me just maybe
Their favorite time of year
To my refrigerator
I’ll enjoy thirsty walks
And with cold beverage
Upon my front porch I’ll talk
To myself
Or anyone who’ll listen
Of the quiet Spring days
For so long I’ve been missing
The sky is blue
With scarcely a cloud
Not that I’d mind a few
But none so thunderously loud
For I need to hear the birds sing
And watch critters on the lawn
The silence on the breeze
And the feelings it brings on
This must be a gift from God
Retreat of Winters sting
When dormant life awakes
Welcome back Spring
