Save Me

My boyfriend called me pretty today.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Told me he like my hair down better,

His cold lips brushing against my cheek as I turn away-

Hiding my glare.

He says he loves me

He begs me not to leave him

Yet he doesn’t stop me as I walk away.

His name is normalcy
But it’s not the normal me
How can that be me when-
she tastes like cinnamon
And holds the stars in her eyes
And her smile
My god-
Her smile could end wars

as much as it could start them.
She holds my hand beneath the
fairy lights in her room.

Her nails painted a dusty lilac colour
That’s as soft as the kisses she plants
On my jaw, as we lie on her bed
And her name is secret.
No one knows who she is
And I want to scream it from the top of my lungs
But his tongue is so far down my throat I can’t breath
And this normality is filling my lungs-
Like smoke
And she is getting further
And further away
As he drags me back into his embrace.
Away from her fairy lights
And cinnamon taste.
Away from her.

My love,
Why did we have to hide?
Where you that ashamed you’d give me to this man?
This beast who treats me like a doll?
Honey, I’d rather be wrapped like a caterpillar

in your blankets- ready to bloom

Then a rag doll broke and shoved in a box

They say that love is love

But this is not love and I need you

To rescue me from this normality

Please

My love- please.

Rescue me.
