Sunshine! How I dreamed of you.
Through the long dark cold winter
As the days grew ever shorter.
How I longed for your penetrating light!
To awaken the trees.
To bring new life!
I see you now harsh light!
Banishing the comfort of my shadows!
I did not know how well acquainted I had become with my old friend Darkness.
He had wrapped me up so I could not feel, hear or see.
My shallow breath just enough to survive.
The prophecy of my coma whispered your return.
It did not tell me the fear you would instil.
How you would pain my eyes
With the sight of all that I had neglected to notice
Blinded by darkness.
I cannot bear to see the horrors cast at my door.
I cannot bear to see the naked trees, reaching to scratch at life.
But you return to me.
Each dawn
You whisper my toil.
And I know I must shake off my cloak of darkness.
I must understand my dreams of the Light.
