(Grandma\'s Treasures)
In the back of Grandma\'s closet, there sat an old weathered chest
You see, Grandma was very poor, but always did her best
Always did without, so her little family could have
Even through the rough times, when things got really bad
Never heard many complaints out of Grandmas mouth
Taking care of her family was what it was all about
You see, I always wondered about the old weathered chest
And never got to see what was in it, until my sweet Grandma was laid to rest
A week after Grandma had passed, the family gathered around
Going through the house, just to see what could be found
There wasn\'t much because Grandma was so poor
But her real treasure sat behind that closet door
Inside that old chest, was the most beautiful sight to see
There was stuff in there that would just bring you to your knees
On the top were 7 baby blankets that Grandma had made, one for each of her babies
They were very worn and starting to fade
Underneath them were 7 little hankies holding locks of hair, all folded nice and neatly with care
Underneath that were beautiful old cards
Another one of Grandma\'s treasures, that the old chest would guard
At the bottom of the old chest, folded nice and neat, old love letters from Grandpa
With beautiful sayings in them that were so sweet
We were about to close that old chest, when I happened to see
An old picture I drew of Grandma and me when I was just three
The old picture was me holding Grandma\'s hand
In that old flower garden, where we used to stand
On the top was a heart that said \"I Luv u grandma\"
And when I saw that, the tears started to fall
At that moment, I was finally able to understand
The purpose of the old weathered chest
That held the treasures put in by Grandma\'s hand
