Wavering
shores, caressed to sand
waves gliding through the bends
out to sea or hugging land
settings are sold, and imagery bought
metaphor is never quite enough, but
portraying the pictorial
is tried still, as it must.
The dancing grass, the waving trees
above the dunes-above the beach,
smile where the footprints mark;
the sun overhead dies to dark!
Settings are sold, and imagery bought ~
and similes mayn\'t be my eyes to see-
and if it be all hyperbole, then
at least it encourages dreams, although
sometimes we lack reality, and yet
that is still beauty.
