The Promise
In the deepest part of me
Is the deepest part of you
For you’re my inspiration
My passion so true
When I’m at my very best
You’re there in every line
The music from my heart
You’re the maestro so fine
I remember you
Back in the day
When we were both so young
And you stole my heart that way
Upon the road of love
I followed the signs
You bring out in me my best
A passion of lyric and rhyme
For a man to write
Poems of love
To put everything else aside
To expose himself there of
Love to this degree
Will pass the test of time
And you’re the soul reason
It lives in the heart of mine
I don’t know where you are now
But you’ve always been in my life
No one could hold a candle next to you
My heart’s one and only wife
To you Sharon and myself
I made a promise easy to keep
I told you I’d always love you
This pact of love I speak
