Disaster drills every month

but I wasn\'t safe
even though
I followed the rules
I was in a group
In the day
during school
while police sirens rang
yet here I am looking up at the sky, stars in my eyes
while they run away, strangers I\'ve never met
fast forward a couple of days and nothing has changed
my gaze still filled with skies of a thousand years
the only difference
you stand over me, eyes filled with tears
yet you still say
the words I\'ve dreaded from the beginning

and nothings changed
