She knew she had a fragile heart
But from her life was a missing part
A person she felt she must find
But the one she found had a fragile mind
It seemed at first their dreams came true
From the dark a new light shone through
Happiness had now been found
But sadly it didn’t stick around
At first it seemed that all was well
He could break the unhappy spell
Adventures, fun and happiness
But soon content turned to stress
She fought with demons from the past
He fought for their perfect life to last
She started letting history win
And he realised he wasn’t well within
They’d thrown in all that they could give
But that was no healthy way to live
There was a fight and then he left
And for their love she was left bereft
So now the fragile heart is torn
And new heartbreak has been born
The fragile mind has closed the door
Because it couldn’t see what it saw before
So unexpected the story ends
With an offering to ‘still be friends’
She’s angry, hurt, betrayed, confused
For fragility has made them lose
The games, the love, the ‘happy sound’
And now neither will be around
To listen, to love, to replace the pain
And the search for strength must begin again
She knew they hadn’t been as good
As they could be, as she knew they should
When filled with love her fragile heart was fine
But now she too has a fragile mind.
