IVY
No noxious weed: this cherished plant
its coat maintained through winters hour
with tapestry of virtuous form
its garlands stretch from brick to bough
from sylvan glade to village wall.
It softens form of churchyard stone
and monuments in slow decay
with swaying verdant drapery
and since the scripts of earliest time
its stature still endures.
