Recipe For A Poem

Recipe for a poem

One cup of words from your heart,                will set you off to a pretty good start.

Add a fist full of tears,
that have aged over the years;
leaving traces of valuable insight,
with the knowledge that it all turned out right.

Stir in a few dark days of rain,
along with a rainbow that shows you the gain.

Add the love you found,
when strangers became friends who stayed around.

They are essential for that moment in time,
when your poem becomes an existential rhyme.

Throw in that foe,
who taught you, blow by blow,
that you will always stand tall,
and find a way to over come it all.

Let it simmer awhile,
until your words come together
with rhythm and style.
