Little Pennies

Little Pennies

We placed our pennies on the tracks

As we’d done times before

There above our little shack

Where clubhouse things were stored

We boarded as the train went by

As hobos there a bit

And jumped back off with a cry

Just for the thrill of it

We went to see the coins there

on the passing rail

With the pennies mostly shiny

And thin without fail

We rode our bicycles from the tracks

With the little coins our change

And showed them all to our friends

who wanted some the same

I kept a coin in my pocket

One I tried not to lose

In my mind it was always fine

And worth some dollars new
