One More Songbird

One More Songbird Can Change The World

It was a misty morning when she came to me,

her bright red feathers ablaze for all to see.

I did not think my heart could bend in such a way,

but it did, and now I feel compelled to say:

One more songbird can change the world.

One more heartfelt refrain to take away the pain.

Come, now, and praise this heaven\'s child,

for she saw fit to open our eyes to peace.

And I feel ashamed for all my dark thoughts,

for they are selfish and mundane.

I feel enlightened when I hear her sing,

for she sings the Sky\'s love eternal.

One more songbird can change our hearts.

One more day to live, and to learn.

Come, now, and let your eyes fill with tears,

for joy is overflowing like the Nile in the East.

It was a summer evening when she went,

and we the people stood with hearts content.

Her bright red feathers fading in the night,

and one last song she sang to keep us bright.

Part II: Phoenix, The Truthsayer

That arrow is sharp, but beautiful.

It kisses the depths of my soul,

and poisons my blood with knowing.

The inscription reads:

\'Speak of every secret,

let it be the lampstand,

and never give up the fire.\'

I am sunshine.

I am brilliance.

I am pierced through-and-through like the Phoenix.

She sings only what she knows, and she sings truth.

I wish to feel the world\'s sorrow,

and maybe sing a song or two.

I know that the Phoenix will assist me

and guide them to Upper Xanadu.

Part III: Upper Xanadu

How long has it been?

I do not know, for my heart

does not keep measure of time.

All it knows is that it must work, and work hard,

for there are many yet to be free.

Upper Xanadu, streets of crystal gold.

All the sighing people suddenly silenced,

overwhelmed by the lack of violence and fear.

\"Do not worry, for I am listening.

I hear you dreaming.

Moon beams have been your only friend, I know.

But now it\'s time for all of that to change.

I am here to show you how to breathe the sky.

Phoenix, lovely teacher,

you can speak better than I for sure.\"

I never lose my sense of wonder

as the Phoenix takes control.

Swaying with the mass and only knowing

nothing but every human need.

Phoenix leads the song as she praises Him.

I cannot believe how all-encompassing His love is.

Twenty billion arrows ready and aimed,

full of sharpened Love.

Dancing like King David,

I lead them into the streets.

Fire!

Part IV: On Into Infinity

When I awoke, there was such a feeling of joy

that had never before been felt in the hearts of men.

Each man and woman, pierced through with arrows of Love,

and Thyamra, the Great Phoenix, shining brightly like the sun.

\'\'See, Skyah has seen fit to give you infinite life!

His love begets life, you see,

and He pours it forth like a roaring waterfall.

It will never dam up, no,

nor will it ever become a mere trickle.\'\'

All the people gather round Thyamra,

seeking a feathery embrace.

Somehow, she manages to cover us all

with her wings.

\'\'Know that Skyah has always loved you,

littles ones. My wings are His wings,

and they will embrace you forever.\'\'

I am brought to my knees with emotion,

and she nuzzles me gently with her beak.

\'\'Ashke, you have done well, my son.

Here, now, let me transform you.

Flesh to feathers, mouth to beak,

feet to flight!\'\'

In a blinding flash of light, my form dies away,

and in its place, a phoenix fledgling,

bright-eyed and cooing happily.

Thyamra places me snugly onto her back,

and she takes off into the sky.

\'\'Ashke, my little one,

you now are truly my son.

Soon you will fly with me, and you will fly forever.

Nevermore will there be the smell of ash and spices.

Come, let us go and reside with Skyah our Father.\'\'

Together we burst through the clouds,

soaring on into infinity.
