They deserve no less.

What is the point, purpose or plan?

Why the hell do I bother?

Yes, the world is beautiful,

but it was before me.

Yes, escapades are a worthy diversion,

yes, other people entertain and engage,

yes, I find happiness in a bottle, a bed or a battle,

but there must be more.

Then they came,

a joy to lie awake and worry,

a privilege to argue and despair,

a thrill to watch them fall and rise again,

a blessing to feel their care.

Then they grew,

amazement at their change,

wonder at their vitality

excitement at their opinions,

joy at their burgeoning morality.

Nothing matters more than their daily presence,

They are life itself, joy encased and discovery found again.

They are light and dark, good and bad, the heat of the sun and the cold of ice,

The greatest challenge I will ever face

and I will win.

For they deserve no less.
