In New York City,
traffic jams and MTA delays,
running up hills,
catching my breath.
Ten minutes late again…
Sit in the back seat,
their eyes on me,
barely hear professor speak.
The city life,
a busy life,
a draining life.
Insomnia rules
and insanity too.
If I could hop on a train, bus or plane
escaping the city;
saving my sanity.
Take me to a forest
where flowers express their beauty
while trees stare in awe.
Bring me to the Great Plains
Where the grass caresses my ankles,
light breeze blowing kisses
to my cheek as I run.
Guide me to a river
Where I dip my bare feet
into gentle streams
watching waters
drift me away
into a dream of peace.
