The Security Fowl
Very few animals startle
As do the guinea fowl
Their noisy disposition
So strident and loud
They cry out at many things
And always object
Knowing all trespassers
As potential threats
The guineas travel in groups
Chasing grasshoppers ‘round
Some days panic stricken
When a snake they’ve found
The guineas are preyed upon
When they stray from home
The flock a fraction of
The ones I have known
The lost have been replaced
With a peacock one
His eyes exceedingly great
And all-seeing in the sun
