Comfort in Isaiah (3): God\'s Character

Tune: Winchester Old

(\'While shepherds watched...\')

Isaiah 40 v.12-17

********

Who has the waters now measured?

Who made them, who them stirred?

To create such, it was the Lord

All things made by His word

The waters, all of every land

Are contained in His hand

And who has the heaven measured?

With their hand, be assured

Be assured that the Lord is he

Who makes thes things to be

And who has measured dust of earth?

E\'en us, gave us our worth

Who weighed the mountains out in scales?

He whose strength never fails

And weighed out hills in a balance

His greatness true we sense

Who has directed His Spirit?

And who His way has lit?

Who being His counsellor taught

Him, and Him wisdom brought?

Behold, the nations are as drop

In a bucket, so stop

We to account the Lord\'s greatness

And His strong name confess

The nations counted as dust small

When weighed in balance all

Behold, the Lord takes up each isle

Very small they compile

They are before Him as nothing

All nations, who can bring

A worthy offering, and say

We worship well today?

The nations less than nothing be

Though He regards each, see

They are vanity and worthless

Yet He does each address
