Building the Walls of Jerusalem

Nehemiah was a young man
Who worked for the king,
Far, far away from Jerusalem.

"What's the news from Jerusalem?" he asked.
And the answer, "The city still lies in ruins.
It's broken walls do not keep out the enemy."

Nehemiah was a sad man.
"O kind King, let me go
To help rebuild my home town!" he begged.

The king sent Nehemiah to Jerusalem
With help from many countries along the way.
"We will help, too!" said the people of Jerusalem.

With a spear in one hand
The men built the wall with the other.
The enemy was afraid to attack
And so the wall was built.
