String Of Pain

"String of Pain"

My life is a pearl

On a string of pain

Where love is a torture

in a fevered brain

A soft futile whisper

In the night's frozen rain

One pure note

In a dying refrain

My life is a pearl

On a string of pain

An sea of trodden grass

in fields Where I've lain

My hopes are tattered

And my dreams are in chains

My life is a pearl

On a string of pain

Not worth a damn

In this mortals domain

Just a tiny flawed pearl

On life's string of pain

Sounds more like Eddie's life?! A fine write Cat.

      dear O.

this has nothing to do with eddy or his life. it is about me. an older poem, but still about me! Cat

Ohhhhhhhh CAT ~ your poem is filled ~ not only with the Agony of LOVE but also the ECSTASY ~ No Gain without Pain. I have experienced LOVE in a dew soaked (and rain soaked) meadow and also al-fresco in deep damp snow. Caught a cold (both times) but in retrospect (I enjoy warm beds now) I have never regretted those damp impulsive and impetuous trysts ! Love all your Poems and You ! BRIAN XX

        dear Brian,

you have examined the heart and essence of this poem correctly. but then, I knew that you would 🙂
        you, too, are loved!

        *hugs, Cat

Cat Cat Cat...you have such a gift. I read your personal pains, knowing that we are all these flawed little pears strung painfully, yet creating the beauty of a necklace. Those pearls are created through much irritation and strife. Love your voice here.

          dearest Heather,

I just reread what you wrote about your experience with "the Cowboy". and I saw that you have your own "string of pain" to deal with and get over. it is obvious why he chose you, so young and beautiful in face and soul. your heart is huge, loving and giving. I hope that you take comfort from the words of your true friends 🙂 and thank you for always being so supportive of both eddy styx and me 🙂

          love, Cat

You must be looking at my daughter, Cat, lol. I'm giggling because I typed "pear" instead of pearl! I adore you and freaky eddy, and am honored to have friends that are true.😘

Remarkably crafted I love the repeating theme this strums the golden strings of Elysian harps. Excellent 🌹

Another good write - like the way the 'theme' keeps repeating .

Wonderful write, the repetition works so well. I do hope that the flaw in that pearl can be mended or exchanged for an unblemished pearl on that 'string of pain'.

                        • Candlewitch

thank you, Goldfinch! your well wishes are noted and appreciated 🙂
