You have a good start. Write what your emotions or heart is telling you. Reread your poem more than one time to make sure everything not only makes sense to you, but to those who will read your poem. Whatever the subject matter stay with that theme from beginning to end. Don't let a word or sentence that doesn't seem to fit with what you are trying to say confuse the reader so they have to go back and make sure they didn't miss read something. It will come together for you. It just takes time. You will do just fine.
