Just Like An Angel.

kevin browne

Just like an angel that flies high in the sky.
Just like a flower blooming in a new spring.
Feeling as if I was a bird-like as If I could fly.
Taste old pastures and to see what it brings.

I know there's a lake way down by the mill.
Way down the road, there is a locked gate.
Justifications, it feels like it's climbing a hill.
And, things can move who are always so late.

A mother and father who's living their life.
Picking daffodils with a beautiful bunch.
A child in their arms and to mother a wife.
Is like serving breakfast when it is lunch.

Take to the water, a swan was born black.
Paddling strong along a breeze of a wave.
Jump up and down and to never look back.
Bring in the delights who all the hearts gave.

Singing a song, singing from your old heart.
Distance is coming from what you can't have.
And, down by the lake is where life can depart.
Find an old friend to make sure that you laugh.

Just like a beating heart deep down in a river.
Its gentle and smooth, but can also be rough.
Live and let go that of which you could never.
Just like in an empty ocean, fish find it tough.

We'll build up our hopes and to survive.
Bring home the trophy that you've won.
Picking up pieces and the rest still alive.
When a trigger was pulled, it killed a son.

Grew up rough living life as fast as I can.
Throw a dice twice to lose what you had.
And, double six because of domino man.
Made the distance where everyone's glad.

With a four-pack in the fridge
And, a good book on the shelf
Together with your own bridge
Just like and do whatever else.

A fine write Kevin. All was OK (last stanza) until I invited friends round. Not a four-pack, but wine - though I added water to it. That ruined everything! lol.

Oh dear, orchidee, maybe you ought to ease up on the water next time. Diluting wine with water is a new one to me. I haven't drunk alcohol now for over 6 years and I'm sticking to my guns on that one. Thanks for your invite I never received, but I'll let you off just this once. but always keep a four-pack in the fridge.

Heehe thanks Kev. I'm tee-total really, well 99%. Alcohol burns my tummy - I can have only a teeny tipple. But I am also the Phantom whisky/sherry-waterer. They'll shoot me for it on here! I dunno why they complain - it makes the sherry/wine last longer by diluting it. lol

Sounds like you have your drinking habits all diluted with faith as it's soul to not pain your tummy. Enjoy your next glass!!!

an interesting poem filled to the point of overflowing with ideas and information.. It reminded me of someone who has a mind of their very own, someone who stands out from the crowd, someone who is both intrinsically and extrinsically different or distanced.. a risk taker maybe... not necessarily an angel in the conventional sense... Enjoyed regardless.... Neville

Now my heart has swollen up from your beautifully worded comment I think I'm about to explode. Thank you, my friend, for such kind words!!!

The flow to these well-rhymed words adds something special to the admirable imagery you use to describe the taste of old pastures. Thanks Kevin for sharing this engaging re-visit to times and people who make life what it is. "Live and let go" is a good phrase to remember. Excellent read.
